September 2021: PR Associates News

National Day for Truth & Reconciliation

September 30th marked the first National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day. Our team at PR Associates recognized the day by wearing orange to show our support for our Indigenous, Inuit and Métis people and communities by reflecting on the lasting impacts of residential schools and honouring the survivors and their families. We remembered the children who never made it home, and we reaffirmed our commitment to advancing reconciliation in concrete ways.

Our team is growing

It’s an inspiring time here at PR Associates and if you’ve kept an eye on our social media channels, you certainly would have noticed the increase in new smiling faces. Our PR Associates family continues to grow and it’s both inspiring for all of us to get to know one another.

Hiring is one of the most important things we do at PR Associates. Our people are our most important asset and hiring is usually an agonizing and deliberate decision that we do not make easily- except this time. Ashley Parker has been on our most-wanted list for some time, and it is with great pleasure that we are able to announce we have hired her as our new Creative Director.

What makes Ashley in such high demand is her eclectic mix of design rooted in her core passions of sustainability, creating positive social change, and pushing the boundaries of design to tell compelling stories and deliver best-in-class campaigns.

Ashely will lead our creative team, responsible for everything from branding, digital media to video production and user experience design. In addition to elevating all our client-facing work, she will also be working alongside the PR Associate’s management team, supporting the development of new business and helping to shape our company vision of providing high-quality, personalized, and meaningful customer experiences for our clients.

Please join me in welcoming Ashley to the team.

Sometimes fortuitously, the best in the business comes your way, and last month we were delighted to have Joseph Kirschke join our team as a senior communication consultant and our Washington DC connection.

Joseph’s string of successes and accolades are impressive. He has two decades of experience as a reporter, editor, and communication specialist in Washington, in the U.S., and Asia, focusing on sustainability, mining, and clean energy. He has worked at China Daily, The Beijing Review, The Jakarta Post, and as a consultant at Edelman. He’s also worked as an editor at Mining Media International, one of the largest mining trade publishing houses in North America, focusing on sustainability at mining projects worldwide.

Joseph’s experience doesn’t end there. He was also a consultant for the World Bank’s Climate Smart Mining initiative. The first fund of its kind promoting responsible mining practices in resource-rich developing nations for a low-carbon future working policymakers, civil society organizations, mining firms, and the media – launching the first report on “Minerals for Climate Action: Decarbonizing Mineral Production for the Clean Energy Transition.”

Joseph also writes for The International Copper Association, illustrating member commitments to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) focusing on renewable energy and energy efficiency.

It is our pleasure to welcome Joseph to our team to help our mining and energy sector clients, policymakers, civil society organization, and media communicate responsible practices and sustainability initiatives that will lead the low carbon economy.
